Health Promotion for Disease Prevention is effective to improve the health and wellness of people by making better choices that can reduce and prevent disease, an important element in disease prevention is sharing knowledge about diseases and how to protect people from them, this will not only empower people to change their lifestyle and behaviours but will have a diverse positive impact on the prevention of communicable diseases globally

20 Neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) are listed as a diverse group of communicable diseases that exist in tropical and subtropical conditions in 149 countries, they have affected more than one billion people and cost developing economies billions of dollars every year, Populations living in poverty, without adequate sanitation and in close contact with infectious vectors and domestic animals and livestock are those worst affected. In May 2013, the 66th World Health Assembly resolved to intensify and integrate measures against neglected tropical diseases and to plan investments to improve the health and social well-being of affected populations. Alliance Water Solutions (AWASO) is a non-profit social enterprise organization established in Uganda. It was founded in 2014 to prevent the spread of Trachoma and schistosomiasis with a Vision of clean environment, clean water a disease-free community. We empower people to own. manage and sustain water and sanitation facilities with a major objective of improving the quality of life and living standards of people in rural and peri-urban areas to access and utilize clean safe water and improved sanitation to reduce the disease burden

Through our Community Education programs in communities, religious institutions and schools, the organisation is implementing behaviour change activities that focus on preventing WASH related diseases in particular Trachoma, Schistosomiasis, intestinal worms and diarrheal infections, as we advocate and lobby for increased WASH involvement in elimination programs and strategy development, increased funding to the sector and increased WASH private sector involvement in implementing Best practices at Local government level.
